Service and public addresses

The difference between a public tunnel address and the service address, and how to check the Groundhog service is reachable.

Tell the two addresses apart

#
  • The public address is where visitors reach your app, for example https://aspire-quickstart.groundhog.unifinity.com. Open it to test your tunnel.
  • The service address, https://groundhog.unifinity.com, is where the client connects. Client 0.4.0-preview.7 uses it automatically, so you normally never enter it.

Neither address is the tunnel name. In this example the name is just aspire-quickstart.

Check the Groundhog service is reachable

#

If the client keeps showing Connecting, open https://groundhog.unifinity.com/_groundhog/v1/health in a browser on the same computer. When the service is ready, the page shows "status":"ok" and the protocol versions it speaks.

If that page does not load, a proxy, VPN or network policy may be blocking the service. The client needs an outbound HTTPS connection to groundhog.unifinity.com on port 443. For other connection problems, see Troubleshooting your connection.

Guides checked against Groundhog client 0.4.0-preview.7.Groundhog is open source under the MIT licence.
